High Temperature Polyurethane Materials
Polyurethane Temperature Range and Polyurethane Heat Resistance
Traditional polyurethane formulations can be used in temperatures ranging from -80F to 190F (-62C to 88C). Once 190F is exceeded, the performance of a traditional system will rapidly degrade.
High temperature polyurethane
Advances in polymer chemistry have resulted in polyurethanes that have operating ranges of 300F (150C). These high temperature/high pressure polyurethane materials and elastomers can be used in a wide range of operating environments and performance requirements.
Design and engineering
The design and engineering of an elastomer system requires addressing a large number of variables to achieve an optimized, high-performance product. Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA) is a key tool used to help select the correct elastomer, for any given application, based on the highest temperature and strain the finished part will be subjected to in service. Using this tool, along with Whitefield Plastics' highly experienced engineering department and extensive databases, results in products that perform in the most demanding applications.
